Overview:

The Catholic Herald Institute (CHI) was founded in January 2023 as a not-for-profit organization in the United States of America.  It is closely affiliated with The Catholic Herald, a venerable, 136-year-old Catholic publication with a rich history in the United Kingdom. The ownership of the magazine recently changed hands and the new majority owners, the GEM Group, intends to turn the publication into a world-wide publication, while maintaining its British roots and traditional Catholic values. 

CHI is based in New York City and an affiliate not-for-profit organization is being incorporated in London.  The Institute is governed by an independent Board of Directors.

The Catholic Herald Institute’s vision is to become the leading Catholic think tank in the United States and beyond, where thought leaders are able to study, write, and opine on key topics related to cultural and religious life, as well as to shape public opinion and influence public policy by exploring the impact of issues of the day from a Catholic perspective and lens.

The Catholic Herald Institute is committed to committed to the strengthening of Catholic identity and the defense of Catholic values. To this end the Catholic Herald Institute will:

As a voice of faith for the last 136 years, the Catholic Herald has grown to over 5 million readers (digital and print) per year, including popes, cardinals, presidents, and prime ministers. Unique monthly visitors have average are 500,000 with 630,000 in Dec 2023.

Its world-class team of writers, editors, and reporters, along with a unique digital archive spanning back to the first publication in 1888, delivers high-quality and independent Catholic journalism across the world.
